Aaditya Thackeray denies any link to Disha Salian, calls CBI naming a character attack
Aaditya Thackeray has denied any connection to Disha Salian's death after the CBI named him in a fresh FIR ordered by the Bombay High Court.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday rejected any connection to the death of Disha Salian, the former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, two days after the Central Bureau of Investigation named him in a fresh FIR.
"I have never met or known Disha Salian," Mr. Thackeray said, describing the allegations against him as a deliberate and evidence-free attempt at character assassination by a few individuals with clear political and personal motives, carried on for almost six years.
In a post on X, he urged that the official re-investigation be allowed to proceed "without malicious distractions and character assassination for political motives."
The CBI registered the case on Monday, naming Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, MLA Aaditya Thackeray and others under provisions relating to murder and criminal conspiracy. The FIR follows a Bombay High Court direction to the agency to file a fresh case while hearing a petition by Salian's father, Satish Salian, who alleged lapses by the Mumbai Police in its investigation.
Salian died in 2020 after a fall from a building in Mumbai, in a case the city police had ruled a suicide. The court's order marks the third fresh investigation, issued on September 2.
In 2023, the Commissioner of Police, acting on the state government's instruction, ordered a fresh probe under Section 174. A report submitted on April 14, 2026 concluded that the death was by suicide, and the findings were accepted by the Special Executive Magistrate on May 6, 2026.
