Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) reported on Saturday that one of its vessels was attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz the previous day. The Emirati state news agency WAM confirmed the incident, stating that no injuries occurred and that the situation is now under control.
This marks the third attack on ADNOC vessels in less than a week. The UAE has previously accused Iran of being responsible for the earlier incidents, but no official statement has been made regarding Friday's attack.
The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway between Oman and Iran, is a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies. Before the conflict, roughly one-fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas passed through it. Since the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran began on February 28, shipping in the region has faced repeated disruptions, leading to higher freight rates and heightened security concerns.
ADNOC, one of the world's largest energy producers, exports crude oil, natural gas, and refined products globally. The latest attack adds to growing tensions in the region, though details on the vessel's condition or the nature of the attack have not been disclosed.
