Three Afghan Nationals Found on Jharkhand Voter List During Special Revision

Three Afghan nationals were found listed on the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Jharkhand, prompting the Election Commission to order their removal and a thorough investigation.
The names — Asil Khan, Mohammad Aslam, and Mohammad Ibrahim — appeared under serial numbers 30, 31, and 33 at polling station 286 in the Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency. Officials confirmed the discovery, which has sparked political controversy.
The Election Commission has struck off the names and directed authorities to investigate how the foreign nationals were enrolled. Jharkhand's Chief Electoral Officer, K Ravi Kumar, called the inclusion a serious matter and said the probe would focus on who assisted the men and through what process their names were added. He warned that criminal action would be taken against anyone found responsible.
The Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police of Jamshedpur have been tasked with the investigation. Officials are also checking whether the three were the only foreigners on the rolls and whether any individual or network facilitated their registration.
The opposition BJP has targeted the ruling JMM-Congress government over the issue. State BJP spokesperson Sandeep Verma alleged that attempts are being made to include Bangladeshi infiltrators in the voter list for vote-bank politics and demanded strict action against those responsible.
