AICTE Asks Government Colleges for Infrastructure Data to Aid NTA Exam Centres
AICTE requests infrastructure details from government colleges to help NTA set up computer-based test centres nationwide.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has asked its affiliated government institutions to submit details of their computing infrastructure and available space. This move follows a request from the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is looking to expand its network of centres for computer-based tests (CBT).
The NTA, which conducts several national-level entrance examinations in CBT mode, communicated its need for suitable premises in government institutions across the country to the AICTE on August 8. As more exams shift to the digital format, the agency requires a wider geographical spread of testing facilities.
In response, the AICTE has written to government engineering colleges, polytechnics, university departments, and other eligible technical and management institutions. These colleges have been asked to provide details on the number of functional computers, existing IT and networking infrastructure, internet connectivity, power backup, and CCTV availability. They must also identify vacant or unutilised space that could be developed into dedicated CBT infrastructure or standard testing centres.
The information sought is limited to AICTE-approved government institutions. The council has stressed that the data provided must be accurate, complete, and verified by the institution's competent authority. Colleges have been given a deadline of September 15 to submit their responses, with the AICTE noting that the matter is important and time-bound. The collected information will be shared with the NTA for further action.
