Air China's C919 Makes Debut on First International Commercial Route

Air China's domestically developed C919 aircraft has entered international commercial service. On August 12, flight CA723 departed from Beijing Capital International Airport and landed in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia's capital. The flight marks the first scheduled international route for the C919, a significant step for China's ambitions in the global aviation market.

The new route will operate daily. This regular international schedule provides the C919 with valuable operational data, including performance in foreign airspace, communication with overseas air traffic control, and takeoff and landing procedures at international airports. This real-world experience is crucial for the aircraft's broader market ambitions.

The C919's international expansion is supported by China's existing airworthiness agreements with 21 countries. Additionally, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency is currently conducting its own certification review of the aircraft, a process that could open doors to Western markets.
