Air India Express flight diverted to Ahmedabad after bomb scare

An Air India Express flight travelling from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to New Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad on Monday after a crew member discovered a handwritten threat message on a tissue paper.

The note, which warned of a bomb onboard, prompted the pilot to divert the aircraft as a precautionary measure. Upon landing at Ahmedabad airport, security agencies conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft and found nothing suspicious, according to officials.

The flight was carrying 32 passengers, all of whom were safely disembarked and accommodated at Terminal 2 of the Ahmedabad airport.

Air India Express said in a statement that the government-appointed Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was alerted immediately and all security procedures were initiated promptly. The airline added that the aircraft would be released for operations only after the completion of necessary security checks.

A case has been registered and an investigation into the incident has been launched by the local police.
