Ajay Devgn Pays Tribute to 'Phool Aur Kaante' Director Kuku Kohli
Ajay Devgn remembers director Kuku Kohli, who died at 77, thanking him for launching his career with 'Phool Aur Kaante'.
Actor Ajay Devgn has expressed his grief over the passing of filmmaker Kuku Kohli, who directed his debut film 'Phool Aur Kaante'. In a heartfelt message on social media, Devgn credited Kohli with altering the course of his life and expressed gratitude for the filmmaker's belief in him.
"Some people change the course of your life forever. Kuku ji was one of those people for me. Forever grateful for the faith you had in me. You will be deeply missed, Kuku ji. Om Shanti," Devgn wrote.
Kohli, who was 77, passed away on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack at a Mumbai hospital. His final rites were conducted on Wednesday at the Oshiwara Crematorium, with the procession beginning from his residence in Andheri West.
Several prominent figures from the film industry, including actors Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, director Rohit Shetty, and lyricist Javed Akhtar, were present to pay their respects. Kohli's wife, veteran actress Aruna Irani, was seen in tears at the crematorium.
'Phool Aur Kaante', released in 1991, was a commercial success and marked the acting debut of both Devgn and Madhoo, who also featured in the film alongside Amrish Puri and Jagdeep. Madhoo paid her own tribute on social media, writing, "Miss u kuku ji."
Kohli's directorial career included notable films such as 'Suhaag' (1994), 'Haqeeqat', 'Zulmi', 'Anari No. 1', and 'Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa'. His last directorial venture was 'Woh Tera Naam Tha' in 2004. He is survived by Irani and two daughters from his first marriage.
