Ajay Devgn's Ranger Postponed to 2027, Set for Summer Release

Ajay Devgn's upcoming jungle adventure, tentatively titled Ranger, has been postponed and will now arrive in cinemas in 2027 rather than on December 4 as previously expected. The film, co-starring Sanjay Dutt and Tamannaah Bhatia, had been slated for a December release this year.

The shift means the December 4 slot will instead be occupied by an untitled comic caper featuring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Raashii Khanna, directed by Anees Bazmee. That film will clash with Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha. There is also a possibility that Prabhas' period action drama Fauzi could release on December 3, though trade sources consider it unlikely, with the film possibly being pushed to 2027 as well.

According to a source, Ranger is expected to arrive after Eid, which falls in March 2027, making a summer release appropriate. Being a jungle adventure, it would suit the school and college holiday period.

As per an August report, Ranger features Ajay Devgn as a forest officer determined to protect tigers. His mission is complicated by an inefficient team, corrupt superiors and a ruthless gang of poachers led by Sanjay Dutt, who plays the antagonist. The climax was shot last month in Mumbai, after which the makers plan to film a special dance number with Tamannaah Bhatia and Ajay Devgn.

Ranger is produced by Luv Ranjan and directed by Jagan Shakti. Luv Ranjan had earlier noted that despite Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt having worked together for over 25 years, they have never appeared in an action film together, making this collaboration a first.

With the postponement, Ajay Devgn will have just two releases in 2026. He is currently preparing for Drishyam The Conclusion, which releases in cinemas on October 2 and marks his second release of the year after the super-hit Dhamaal 4.
