Ajay Devgn's Horror Thriller With Rohit Jugraj Titled Surya Prakash

Ajay Devgn's forthcoming horror thriller, directed by Rohit Jugraj, has locked its title. The film, earlier referred to by the working title Griha Pravesh, will officially be called Surya Prakash.

Devgn features in the film as a supernatural and morally ambiguous character. The high-concept narrative draws inspiration from the Garuda Puran, a Sanskrit text structured as a dialogue between Lord Vishnu and Garuda, the king of birds.

The title is intended to evoke an eerie world and a growing atmosphere of mystery and dread.

Production on the film commenced on September 2 and is scheduled to continue through November. A theatrical release is planned for the second half of 2027.

Kumar Mangat and Abhishek Pathak of Panorama Studios are producing the project in partnership with Devgn Films, continuing a long-standing association that has included films such as Drishyam, Raid and Shaitaan. The two teams also have Drishyam: The Conclusion, the final instalment of the family thriller franchise, set for release on October 2.

Jugraj, who earlier assisted on Ram Gopal Varma's Bhoot — a 2003 horror film starring Devgn — has since directed the Sardaarji franchise and the streaming series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein and Chamak.

Speaking during the film's announcement earlier this month, producer Abhishek Pathak said the project's suspense stems from the questions it raises and the unease it quietly builds rather than from spectacle. He added that Devgn's involvement as both actor and producer brought an added creative dimension, and described Jugraj as the right filmmaker to bring the material to life.
