Alan Ritchson and Catherine Ritchson announce end of 20-year marriage

Alan Ritchson, the lead of Amazon Prime Video's Reacher, and his wife Catherine Ritchson have announced that their marriage of two decades is ending. The couple shared the news in a joint Instagram statement on September 12, describing the decision as a transition rather than a rupture.

"After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way," the statement read. "We grew up together. We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world."

The pair, who are parents to sons Calem, Edan and Amory, said their priority is to remain strong co-parents. "The best gift we can give one another and our boys right now is friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be," they wrote, adding that they also want to give each other room to grow.

Addressing the public attention around their split, the couple asked for understanding. "Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in. We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion."

Court records show Ritchson filed for divorce in December 2025, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple briefly reconciled in March 2026 before deciding to separate for good.

The two first met as teenagers in a Florida high school ballet class, reconnected during college and married in May 2006.

On the work front, Ritchson remains in demand. Reacher Season 4, which adapts Lee Child's Gone Tomorrow, premiered on August 12 and its finale is set for September 16. Prime Video will follow it with Neagley, a spinoff led by Maria Sten's Frances Neagley, in which Ritchson will guest star as Jack Reacher. The streamer has also renewed Reacher for a fifth season, currently in production and based on the novel Make Me.

Ritchson stars opposite Owen Wilson in Runner, released in theatres on September 11. He is also set to appear with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the holiday comedy The Man with the Bag, expected on Prime Video in late 2026. His other projects include Counting Miracles, a Nicholas Sparks adaptation he is producing and starring in, and War Machines, a Netflix sci-fi action sequel. He is due to reprise his role as Aimes in Fast Forever, the final main instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise, scheduled for March 17, 2028.
