Allu Arjun hails Sukumar's National Award win for 'Pushpa 2'
Allu Arjun congratulated director Sukumar on his Best Original Screenplay National Award for 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', saying the win means as much to him as his own.
Actor Allu Arjun has congratulated director Sukumar B after the filmmaker was honoured with a National Film Award for 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', describing the recognition as personally significant.
Sukumar received the award for Best Original Screenplay at the 72nd National Film Awards, presented by President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday at a ceremony in Kevadia, Gujarat.
In a post on X, Allu Arjun, who earlier won the Best Actor award for 'Pushpa: The Rise', said he had been waiting for this moment. He wrote that the honour meant as much to him as his own, noting that both of them had now received National Awards for the 'Pushpa' franchise.
The film's official social media handle also marked the occasion, calling it a national honour for a story that rewrote the rules and congratulating Sukumar on the Best Screenplay Writer award.
Released in December 2024, 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' broke several box-office records. Directed by Sukumar, the action drama stars Allu Arjun as Pushpa Raj, with Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in key roles.
Instituted in 1954, the National Film Awards are among Indian cinema's most prestigious honours, recognising excellence across feature films, non-feature films and writing on cinema, spanning a wide range of languages, regions and forms of filmmaking.
This year's ceremony was held in Gujarat for the first time, at Kevadia, the site of the 182-metre Statue of Unity dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had unveiled the statue, the world's tallest, on October 31, 2018.
