Amethi School Bus Collides With Container Truck, Over Two Dozen Students Injured
Over two dozen students were injured when their school bus collided with a container truck in Amethi on Monday. Fifteen children were hospitalised.
More than two dozen students were injured on Monday when a school bus collided head-on with a container truck in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi district. The incident occurred around 11 am on Thauri road between Alinagar and Thauri, under the jurisdiction of the Bhale Sultan Shaheed Smarak police station.
Additional Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Kumar Singh said the bus was carrying students of RPS Academy School when it collided with the oncoming container. Fifteen of the injured children were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jagdishpur for treatment. Two of them sustained fractures, while the others were reported to be out of danger.
A crane was brought to the spot to disentangle the container, which had become locked with the bus after the collision. Police said legal proceedings are being initiated in connection with the incident.
The accident has raised questions about the school's functioning, as Amethi District Magistrate Sanjay Chauhan had declared a holiday for all schools in the district on Monday due to heavy rainfall.
