Ammy Virk Says He Is Safe After Canada Shooting Rumours
Ammy Virk has dismissed reports linking him to a shooting in Abbotsford, Canada, after police said the incident was unrelated to him.
Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk has spoken out after social media reports claimed his convoy had come under fire in Canada following a concert in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
In a post on Instagram, Virk told fans not to believe everything being shared online. He said he was completely fine by the grace of God and was not involved in any such reported or suggested incident.
The Abbotsford Police Department also said the shooting was not connected to the singer. According to the police, a vehicle travelling in the 2500 block of McCallum Road was targeted on September 5. Early information suggested that people in a dark-coloured SUV fired several shots at the victim vehicle.
Police officers who responded confirmed that a shooting had taken place, but no one was injured. Soon after, officers were called to a report of a vehicle fire in the 2400 block of Sunnyside Place, where they found an SUV fully engulfed in flames.
The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. It is working to establish the motive for the shooting and whether the vehicle fire is linked to it.
Virk's father, Kuljit Singh, also rejected the reports surrounding his son. He said Virk and the rest of the family were safe, and clarified that no shots had been fired at his son. He added that the shooting had reportedly targeted the convoy of the show's organisers.
The investigation into the shooting and the subsequent vehicle fire is ongoing.
