Amritsar Police Expand Campus Outreach After LPU Protests

Amritsar Commissionerate Police officers fanned out across several colleges and universities in the city on Tuesday, meeting students and staff as part of a stepped-up campus outreach effort.

The visits, which followed recent protests at Lovely Professional University (LPU), focused on a range of issues affecting the student community. Officers held discussions on safety concerns, drug abuse, traffic rules and access to emergency assistance.

The outreach is aimed at building closer ties between law enforcement and campuses, with police engaging directly with students and faculty rather than relying solely on formal channels. Similar efforts are also being undertaken in Ludhiana, where authorities have increased their presence and interaction on college and university campuses.

By meeting students in person, the police hope to address grievances early and encourage reporting of safety-related issues. The initiative reflects a broader push to strengthen community policing in educational institutions across the region.
