Andhra child rights panel orders police protection for boy in Godavari suicide case
Andhra child rights panel orders security for 10-year-old boy after his grandfather, wife and daughter died in Godavari jump on August 16.
The Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed the Superintendent of Police of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district to provide security to a 10-year-old boy whose family members died in a tragic incident in the Godavari river.
Commission chairman Vetukuri Suryanarayana Raju issued the directive to SP Rahul Meena on Friday, following a review of the case. The boy's grandfather, Assistant Engineer Nooka Raju, along with his wife and daughter, died after jumping into the river on August 16. The child was rescued by local residents.
A man identified as Sk. Sadhik Khan, based in Kakinada, has been arrested in connection with the case.
Mr. Suryanarayana Raju held discussions with Kakinada police officials, Education Department representatives, and the management of the school where the boy studies in Class V. He reviewed the case and sought details about any possible threats to the child's life.
In an official release, the chairman said he had directed Mr. Meena to ensure the boy's security against any potential threats.
