Andhra Minister Defends DSC-2025 Recruitment as Transparent

Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh has defended the DSC-2025 recruitment exercise in Andhra Pradesh, describing it as transparent and impartial, and rejected the opposition YSR Congress Party's campaign against the process.

Speaking to the media in Vijayawada on Saturday, Mr. Durgesh said the government had kept its promise to hold the Mega DSC in an open manner. He alleged that the YSRCP had filed 335 petitions in the Andhra Pradesh High Court with the aim of preventing unemployed youth from securing jobs.

Referring to a public interest litigation filed by a YSRCP MLC, the Minister said the High Court had questioned the party's intervention when no affected candidate had approached the court. He described the court's observation as a setback for the party.

Mr. Durgesh said the first file signed by the Chief Minister after taking office related to the DSC, and that all 16,347 posts were filled within a record 148 days. The notification, merit lists, answer keys and grievance-redressal details were placed in the public domain, he added.

The Minister said final selections were made not only on the basis of merit rank but also in line with candidates' categories, the availability of posts, the roster system and horizontal reservations for women, persons with disabilities, sportspersons and ex-servicemen.

He also defended the inclusion of bridge as a sport in the recruitment process, noting that it is recognised by the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia. He accused YSRCP leaders of creating a controversy without understanding the sport's significance.

Mr. Durgesh further alleged that the YSRCP was trying to undermine the efforts of thousands of unemployed candidates who had worked hard, and said people would teach the party a lesson if it continued to make what he called baseless allegations against the Mega DSC.
