Andhra Pradesh Rejigs IPS Ranks; Suspended Officers Get New Postings

Andhra Pradesh transfers and posts several IPS officers, including two recently reinstated in the Kadambari Jethwani case, and names SPs for three districts.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday issued transfer and posting orders for a number of Indian Police Service officers, among them two senior officers whose suspensions were recently revoked.

Kanthi Rana Tata, a 2004-batch officer who had been serving as Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada, has been posted as Inspector General of Police, Directorate of Traffic Management and Road Safety. Vishal Gunni, a 2005-batch officer who was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada, takes charge as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Training, in an existing vacancy. He has also been given full additional charge as Director of the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy until further orders.

Both officers were suspended over allegations of illegally confining and harassing actress Kadambari Jethwani and her family. Their suspensions were revoked recently, and they had since been awaiting fresh postings.

In other changes, C.M. Thrivikram Varma, a 2005-batch officer serving as Director General of the Special Protection Force, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police and Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, in an existing vacancy.

Anti-Corruption Bureau Director R. Jayalakshmi has been moved to the post of Inspector General of Police, CID Cyber Crimes. B. Raja Kumari, IG of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police Battalions, has been transferred and posted as IG, Railways, in an existing vacancy, with full additional charge as IG, CID Women Safety, until further orders.

Babujee Attada, DIG, Greyhounds, has been transferred and posted as DIG, Technical Services, in an existing vacancy, and given full additional charge as DIG, Greyhounds.

The government also appointed Superintendents of Police for three districts. Pankaj Kumar Meena, Officer on Special Duty, Polavaram, has been posted as SP, Markapuram district, in an existing vacancy. Jagadeesh Adahalli has been transferred and posted as SP, Palnadu district, while K. Chakravathi, SP, CID, takes over as SP, Polavaram district.
