Andhra Pradesh Rolls Out AI Drone Monitoring Portal and SafeStay App
Andhra Pradesh police launch an AI-based centralised drone monitoring portal and the SafeStay AP app to strengthen surveillance and public safety.
Two technology-driven policing services were launched in Guntur on Tuesday, with the Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police, Harish Kumar Gupta, and Guntur Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal inaugurating the initiatives and unveiling their logos.
The first, an AI-based Centralised Drone Monitoring Portal (CDMP), will allow police officials to view live feeds from drones operating across the State on a single dashboard. The system uses artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to deliver real-time situational awareness and support quicker responses. Access is governed by a role-based control mechanism, so that only authorised personnel can view information, and officials can monitor drone footage without depending on public streaming platforms.
The second, the SafeStay AP application, is designed to give the police real-time information about people staying in paying guest accommodations and hotels across Andhra Pradesh. Occupancy-related data generated through the app is expected to assist public safety efforts, crime prevention and investigations.
Speaking at the Guntur Superintendent of Police's office after the launch, Mr. Gupta said technology was being integrated into policing on a large scale and that its benefits should reach the public. The aim, he said, was to ensure that people felt safe and confident in police services.
He noted that over the past one-and-a-half years, the department has been introducing technology extensively, and underlined its importance in preventing and investigating crime. Police departments, he added, must keep pace with technological advances and make policing simpler and more efficient, with services reaching citizens' doorsteps rather than requiring them to visit police offices.
Mr. Gupta said technology would also play a significant role in women's safety, drug control, traffic management, investigation and preventive policing. He appreciated the support of educational institutions and young technology innovators in developing technology-based solutions, and said more such applications would be introduced to improve police efficiency and deliver faster services to citizens.
