
Andhra Pradesh announces ₹10 lakh ex gratia for Chilakaluripet accident victims
AP CM Naidu announced ₹10 lakh ex gratia each for families of eight killed in a bus-auto accident in Chilakaluripet.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday night announced an ex gratia of ₹10 lakh each to the families of the eight persons who died in a road accident at Chilakaluripet in Palnadu district. He directed officials to disburse the financial assistance to the bereaved families at the earliest.
The victims were residents of Veluru village in Chilakaluripet mandal. They were killed on August 27 when a private travel bus, travelling from Vijayawada to Tirupati, collided with their auto-rickshaw at Addaroad Centre in the early hours of the day.
Fifteen people from Veluru, including four children and nine women, were in the auto-rickshaw after attending a birthday celebration. Four died on the spot, one at the Chilakaluripet Government Hospital, and two more at the Government General Hospital in Guntur. The injured included the auto-rickshaw driver and three children. Police have registered a case.
Expressing concern over the loss of lives, Mr. Naidu asked authorities to extend all necessary support to the families of the victims.
