Andhra Pradesh Plans Fire Station in Every Assembly Constituency, Says Minister
Andhra Pradesh will set up a fire station in every Assembly constituency, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said while inaugurating development works in Addanki.
The Andhra Pradesh government intends to establish a fire station in every Assembly constituency, Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said on Friday during a visit to Addanki town in Prakasam district.
Speaking after inaugurating a series of development works alongside Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, she said the State had opened several new fire stations since the present government took office and had expanded its fleet of fire tenders to bring response times down to 10–15 minutes. Of the ₹210 crore extended by the Centre for the purpose, ₹110 crore has already been spent on firefighting equipment and vehicles, she added.
At Addanki, a new fire station building has come up at a cost of ₹2.25 crore using funds allocated under the 15th Finance Commission, and a fire tender worth ₹75 lakh has been procured for it. The station was originally sanctioned in 2012 and began operations on December 30, 2013, from a temporary shed with a single garage bay at the Agricultural Market Yard.
The facility now covers six mandals — Addanki, Korisapadu, J. Panguluru, Ballikurva, Santhanuthalapadu and Mundlamuru — and has been meeting the emergency needs of the region, the Minister said. It has been equipped with advanced gear and the latest vehicle to improve the services rendered by fire personnel.
Citing departmental figures, she said the station attended to 47 accident incidents in 2025–26, saving property valued at ₹1.70 crore and rescuing six people. In the current year, 2026–27, it has so far responded to 94 incidents, protecting property worth ₹2.05 crore and saving two lives. She appreciated the work of Fire Department officials.
Road construction across the State is being sped up so that fire and police teams can reach accident sites without delay, she added.
A 33/11 kV semi-indoor electrical substation built at a cost of ₹7.72 crore was also inaugurated in Addanki. Ravi Kumar said the new substation would resolve low-voltage problems in the town and its surrounding areas. The Home Minister praised the Energy Minister's efforts in maintaining uninterrupted power supply across the State despite El Niño conditions.
