Andhra Pradesh sets 5.52 lakh housing target for March 2027 under Housing for All

The Andhra Pradesh government has set a target of completing 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027 as part of its push to implement the Housing for All programme on a saturation basis, with the aim of providing a safe and permanent house to every eligible family in the State by 2029.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the functioning of the Housing Department at his camp office on Tuesday and directed officials to begin grounding houses under various schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and PM Janman, by next month. Of the total target, 1.5 lakh houses are to be built in urban areas. Officials have been asked to complete 2.05 lakh houses by December 2026 and another 2.74 lakh by March 2027, ready for housewarming.

The review was told that 18.72 lakh houses had been sanctioned under PMAY 1.0, PMAY 2.0 and PM Janman, of which 13.20 lakh have been completed. Under the Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation, 11.31 lakh of the 16.11 lakh sanctioned houses are complete, while AP TIDCO has finished 1.88 lakh of its 2.61 lakh sanctioned houses.

Mr. Naidu directed officials to secure sanctions for 75,000 new houses by December 2027 and to bring another 1.5 lakh houses into the pipeline by coordinating with the Union Ministries of Rural Development and Housing and Urban Affairs.

To identify families without house sites and to eliminate duplication, the Chief Minister called for integration of data from the RTGS, Awaas Plus, Housing and Revenue departments. Preliminary beneficiary lists should be published at village and ward secretariats, with objections invited and resolved transparently before final lists are prepared.

Officials were also asked to reorganise unused land in existing layouts into two- or three-cent plots wherever required and to map eligible beneficiaries to vacant sites. Construction works are to be monitored continuously. The Chief Minister further directed that housing be implemented on a saturation basis in the Kuppam constituency.

On industrial development, Mr. Naidu asked the Housing Department to explore building industrial townships in different parts of the State with Central government assistance, saying townships in industrial regions such as Sri City could boost economic activity. The department has been told to coordinate with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for the purpose.

Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy and senior officials of the Housing and Finance departments attended the review meeting.
