LCP demands halt to MBBS counselling, says G.O. 102 hurts reserved category

The Liberation Congress Party (LCP) has urged the Andhra Pradesh government to immediately stop the ongoing MBBS counselling process, alleging that meritorious students from reserved categories are being denied seats they deserve under the Open Competition (OC) quota.

Speaking at a programme organised by the Andhra Pradesh Medicos Parents Association in Vijayawada on Thursday, LCP national president Vijay Kumar G. Srkr said the party had cautioned the government months ago that G.O. No. 102 would harm SC, ST, and OBC students. He claimed the first round of MBBS counselling conducted by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences for 2026 had confirmed those fears.

Mr. Vijay Kumar said that in the AU region, 43 reserved-category candidates who secured ranks better than the OC cut-off rank of 71,547 were allotted seats under their reserved categories instead of being considered under the OC quota. Similarly, in the SVU region, 27 reserved-category candidates who scored above the OC cut-off rank of 94,966 allegedly faced the same issue.

The party has demanded immediate steps to stop further counselling rounds under G.O. No. 102, withdrawal or amendment of the order to restore the OC entitlement of meritorious reserved-category candidates, and cancellation of admissions made in violation of rules. It also wants fresh counselling under G.O. No. 151, a written response to the Medicos Parents Association and LCP representations, and a public announcement on corrective action for affected students.

The LCP has also asked Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav to clarify what measures his department will take to protect the interests of affected SC, ST, and OBC candidates.
