Andhra teachers call off stir after CM's assurance on Special TET
Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation suspends indefinite dharna after CM Naidu assures review of Special TET issues and other demands.
The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) has temporarily called off its indefinite sit-in protest over the Special TET issue, following a commitment from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to look into the grievances of in-service teachers and ensure they face no hardship.
The decision came after APJAC chairman A. Vidya Sagar conveyed the Chief Minister's assurance to the agitating teachers. Mr. Vidya Sagar said talks with employee bodies on Saturday yielded positive responses on several financial and service matters, including two pending Dearness Allowance installments, the appointment of the 12th Pay Revision Commission chairman, and other demands.
APTF leaders, including State president Chennupati Manjula, general secretary K. Basavalinga Raju, and former general secretary P. Panduranga Varaprasad Rao, urged the government to act on the federation's legitimate demands and ease the anxiety among teachers. They also called for incorporating APTF-suggested amendments, with NCTE approval where needed, and proposed that the State Assembly pass a resolution on the issue and forward it to the Centre, given education's place on the Concurrent List.
The federation clarified that the indefinite dharna is only temporarily suspended in light of the Chief Minister's assurance.
