Anthropic Merges Claude Chat and Cowork Into One Interface, Adds Docs and Slides
Anthropic is folding Claude's chat, Cowork and Design features into a single interface and launching document and presentation tools in beta.
Anthropic announced on Wednesday that it is consolidating the chat and Cowork functions of its Claude AI assistant into one interface, while adding new tools for documents and presentations.
The company's visual work tool, Claude Design, will also be brought into the main interface. Anthropic said the changes respond to user frustration over having to select the appropriate tool for every task.
Under the revamped setup, users will not need to move between separate tools. Claude will identify the capabilities a task requires and apply them automatically, the company said.
As part of the update, Anthropic is introducing Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta. The tools allow users to produce documents, presentations and visual designs within a single conversation. Users can also export documents to Google Docs or Microsoft Word, and presentations to PowerPoint or PDF files.
The rollout will begin with Pro and Max subscription plans across web, desktop and mobile over the coming weeks, before reaching Team and Free plans.
The move follows OpenAI's launch of ChatGPT Work in July, which combined its chatbot with the Codex coding tool. The development underscores the intensifying competition between the two IPO-bound companies for enterprise customers and non-coders seeking AI-powered work tools.
