Andhra Pradesh High Court Examines Data Centre Land Lease and Green Concerns

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has taken up a case concerning the allotment of land for a data centre, with the Bench noting that key questions surrounding the lease and environmental implications require closer examination.

Chief Justice Gill, referring to the details placed before the court, observed that there were competing claims about the duration of the lease. One side has contended that the land in question was leased out for a period of 30 years, while the other has maintained that the allotment was initially made on a lease basis for only 11 years.

The discrepancy between the two accounts, the Chief Justice said, needed to be scrutinised closely. The court's remarks indicate that the terms of the allotment will be a central issue as the matter proceeds.

Alongside the lease question, the High Court has taken note of environmental concerns linked to the land allotment. The case therefore brings together questions of land administration and ecological impact, both of which will be weighed as the proceedings advance.
