APSRTC to add 80 electric buses to Visakhapatnam fleet by October
APSRTC will introduce 80 Green Metro AC electric buses in Visakhapatnam district, with 30 arriving at Gajuwaka depot by September-end and 50 more at Simhapuri depot by October-end.
The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will introduce 80 Green Metro AC buses in the Visakhapatnam district fleet, marking the first deployment of the fully electric model in the State.
B. Appala Naidu, APSRTC Visakhapatnam Regional Manager, inspected one of the buses after it arrived at the Gajuwaka depot on Friday. He said the vehicles would be pressed into service on various routes once registration and the necessary permissions are completed.
Under the rollout plan, 30 buses will reach the Gajuwaka depot by the end of September, while the remaining 50 will be deployed at the Simhapuri depot by the end of October. Together they will take the district's electric bus count to 80.
Mr. Naidu said the buses run entirely on electric power and would help bring down pollution levels in the district.
Each bus offers 35 seats along with standing room for passengers. The vehicles are fitted with four CCTV cameras, automatic doors and air suspension, features Mr. Naidu said would make travel more comfortable for commuters.
