Argentina Eyes Record Grain Output in 2026/27 as Soy and Corn Forecasts Rise

Argentina's soybean and corn harvests are expected to increase in the 2026/27 season, the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange said on Tuesday, with total grain production potentially reaching a record high.

Soybean output is projected at 53.6 million metric tons, up from 50.1 million tons in the 2025/26 cycle. Corn production is forecast to rise to 66 million tons from 64 million tons the previous season.

The exchange's general manager, Ramiro Costa, said the country could produce a record 157.9 million tons of grain in the 2026/27 cycle. "We are coming off the largest harvest in our history and today we see the potential to produce at those levels again," he said.

Costa cautioned that the forecast is not guaranteed and will depend on weather conditions and production decisions in the months ahead.

Wheat output for 2026/27 is expected to fall to 23.4 million tons, down from 27.8 million tons in the previous season. Argentina is a key global wheat supplier.

The projections differ from those of the Rosario grains exchange, which earlier this month estimated the 2026/27 soybean crop at 47.8 million tons and corn at up to 70.5 million tons.

Argentina is the world's top exporter of soybean oil and meal and the third-largest exporter of corn.
