Article 370 Clinches Three National Film Awards, Including Best Feature Film

The political drama Article 370 emerged as a major winner at the 72nd National Film Awards, taking home three honours, including the Best Feature Film award. The ceremony was held in Kevadia, Gujarat.

Filmmaker Aditya Dhar received the Best Feature Film award for the film, which centres on the events surrounding the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The film is directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar.

Article 370 also earned Yami Gautam the Best Actress award and Shashwat Sachdev the Best Music Direction award. For Yami Gautam, it was her first National Film Award. She walked up to the stage with a bright smile, greeted the gathering with a traditional namaste and received the award from President Droupadi Murmu.

In an emotional Instagram post, Dhar described the recognition as a landmark moment. "Winning THREE NATIONAL AWARDS for ARTICLE 370 is a moment that is difficult to put into words. It is humbling, deeply emotional and one that fills my heart with immense gratitude," he wrote.

Reflecting on the film's journey, he said the team was not chasing accolades when it set out to make the film. "We were driven by a conviction, to tell a story with honesty, courage and sincerity. To see that journey resonate with audiences across the country and now be recognised with the highest honour in Indian cinema, is truly overwhelming," he added.

Dhar thanked the National Awards jury and audiences who supported the film. "My deepest gratitude to the esteemed Jury for this incredible recognition and to every single person who watched, supported, debated and believed in Article 370. Your love gave this film a life far beyond the screen," he wrote.

Besides Yami Gautam, the film features Priyamani, Arun Govil and Kiran Karmarkar in key roles.
