Asa Germann Joins Marvel's X-Men as Mutant Angel

Asa Germann has been cast as Angel in Marvel's upcoming X-Men film, joining a lineup that includes Sadie Sink, Kit Connor and Samara Weaving.

Marvel Studios has added Asa Germann to the cast of its upcoming X-Men film, with the Gen V actor set to portray the winged mutant Angel.

Germann joins a lineup that includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Christopher Abbott as Professor X and Maya Boyd as Storm. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige unveiled the ensemble at last month's D23 convention.

Adam Driver will play the classic X-Men comic-book villain Mr Sinister in the film, which will be directed by Thunderbolts helmer Jake Schreier. The movie is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028.

In the comics, Angel's real name is Warren Worthington III, and his large, bird-like wings allow him to fly. The character has appeared on screen before: Ben Foster and Cayden Boyd played him in Fox's X-Men: The Last Stand, while Ben Hardy portrayed him as the metallic-winged Archangel in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Germann first drew attention in Amazon Prime Video's superhero satire Gen V, a spinoff of The Boys, as Sam Riordan, a near-invulnerable, super-strong character with schizophrenia who attends Godolkin University, a school for young supes. He was brainwashed and turned against his former friends in the second season before they rescued him. Germann also appeared in two episodes of The Boys Season 4; Gen V was cancelled earlier this year after two seasons.

His other credits include Lucas Bowden in this year's Scream 7 and a role in an episode of Netflix's Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
