Ashley St. Clair: Musk 'Consciously Rejects Empathy'

Ashley St. Clair, speaking in Venice on 8 September, offered a pointed assessment of Elon Musk, the father of her child. She said the billionaire makes a deliberate choice to avoid empathy, even though he is capable of it when necessary.

"He consciously rejects empathy," St. Clair said. "He makes a conscious choice to not put himself in other people's shoes, because he does have the capacity to do it when he needs to."

She also pushed back against the idea that Musk's difficult childhood justifies his behaviour. While acknowledging that he speaks about his early years both privately and publicly, she noted that many people have endured traumatic upbringings without seeking to reshape the world.

"I don't see any of you trying to take over the world," she remarked.

St. Clair acknowledged that Musk possesses good qualities but said he has made many poor decisions. She expressed hope that their son inherits only the positive traits, saying, "I have to think that because I hope that my son got every single one of the good ones."
