Two Assam Workers Missing After Nepal Flash Floods

Two men from Assam's Karbi Anglong district have been reported missing following the devastating flash floods in Nepal, which have left hundreds unaccounted for, including several Indians.

The missing individuals have been identified as Rituparna Brahma (24) and Mantri Basumatary (28), both residents of Doidak village under the Langhin area.

According to officials, the two men had travelled to Nepal approximately two weeks ago in search of employment. They were working at a hydroelectric project located near the Trishuli River when the floods struck.

"The families have been unable to contact them since the flash floods struck Nepal on August 26. Their mobile phones have remained switched off since the incident," an official said.

The families have lodged a report at the Dokmoka Police Station and have appealed to the central government, the Assam government, and the Karbi Autonomous Council for assistance in tracing the missing men.

A colleague of the two men, Someswar Narzary (37), managed to survive the disaster and informed his family about the incident over the phone.

The families of Brahma and Basumatary are now awaiting information from rescue teams and authorities in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the Assam government has issued helpline numbers for people seeking emergency assistance, coordination support, or information related to residents of the state stranded in Nepal.
