NIT Calicut Alumna Swaps Corporate Career at ExxonMobil for Indian Army Commission

Athira Suresh, a civil engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut, has traded a promising corporate career for a commission in the Indian Army. She has been inducted as a Lieutenant following the completion of her training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya.

Prior to joining the armed forces, Suresh was employed with ExxonMobil in Bengaluru, where she had built a thriving professional profile. Her decision to leave the energy sector marks a deliberate pivot toward a long-held aspiration of serving in uniform.
