Bengaluru ATM attack convict on bail hacks wife to death in Andhra Pradesh

A man convicted in the sensational 2013 Bengaluru ATM attack case allegedly murdered his wife in Madanapalle on Saturday evening, police said. The accused, Kondappagiri Madhukar Reddy (42), reportedly attacked his wife Dandamani (38) with a sharp weapon following a heated argument at their residence in Jagan Colony.

Reddy, who was out on bail and had recently returned home, fled the scene after the attack, leaving Dandamani's body in a pool of blood. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Madanapalle) M. Buchi Raju visited the crime spot, while Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kunubilli has constituted special teams to trace the absconding convict.

Authorities have alerted all police stations in Annamayya district and posted personnel at inter-state checkposts. CCTV footage from arterial junctions across Madanapalle is being monitored as part of the manhunt.

Reddy was convicted for attacking bank employee Jyothi Uday inside an ATM kiosk at Corporation Circle in Bengaluru on November 19, 2013. The assault, captured on CCTV and widely circulated, showed him striking the woman with a machete before fleeing with her belongings. He evaded arrest for over three years before being caught in Madanapalle in February 2017. A City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru later sentenced him to ten years in prison in the ATM attack case.
