Augsburg Train Station Shut After Blast, Second Suspicious Object Found

Police in Augsburg, Germany, have cordoned off the city's central train station and suspended all rail traffic following an explosion and the subsequent discovery of a second suspicious object nearby.
The blast occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. local time (0115 GMT) in a building passageway along Bahnhofstrasse, close to the station. Police spokesman Michael Niefenecker confirmed that two passersby — an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman — sustained minor injuries in the incident. The explosion also shattered several windows in the vicinity.
Following the initial blast, authorities launched a search of the area and located another suspicious object within the station's perimeter. As a precaution, the station was evacuated and train services were halted indefinitely. Police have established a wide cordon, disrupting road traffic and public transportation in the surrounding area.
Investigators stated that probes are "proceeding in all directions" as they work to determine the nature of the explosive device and the circumstances surrounding the incident. No further details regarding the second object or potential suspects have been released at this time.
