Modi Marks Eight Years of Ayushman Bharat, Cites 60 Crore Beneficiaries
On Ayushman Bharat's eighth anniversary, PM Modi cited over 60 crore beneficiaries, Rs 5 lakh annual cover and 500 crore Ayushman Arogya Mandir visits.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked eight years since the rollout of Ayushman Bharat, describing the programme as one built on the principle that every Indian should have access to quality and affordable healthcare.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said more than 60 crore beneficiaries now have access to an annual health cover of Rs 5 lakh, which he described as the largest healthcare scheme in the world. He added that the initiative has delivered record savings on medical expenses, benefiting poor and middle-class families.
Mr Modi also pointed to the reach of primary healthcare infrastructure under the programme, noting that Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have recorded over 500 crore visits. This, he said, is strengthening primary healthcare at the grassroots level and bringing care closer to every doorstep.
The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to all beneficiaries of the scheme, which was launched eight years ago.
Ayushman Bharat, which provides health cover to eligible families, has been positioned by the government as a key intervention in reducing out-of-pocket medical spending for households across the country.
