Class 2 Student Collapses and Dies in UP Classroom as Loud DJ Procession Passes

A Class 2 student collapsed and died inside her classroom in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, after a religious immersion procession featuring a DJ passed in front of the school, according to CCTV footage and school officials.

The incident occurred on Monday morning around 11 am, when the girl, the daughter of Sonu Tiwari, was in a second-grade classroom on the first floor with her classmates.

A three-minute-two-second CCTV recording shows the classroom reacting as loud music from the procession outside became audible. Some children turned towards the windows and doors, while the girl appeared distressed. Moments later, she slumped into her chair with her head rolling back onto the desk behind her. A boy shook her and pushed her head forward; she briefly adjusted and tried to sit up, appearing fine for a short while. She then rested her head on the table, lifted it slightly, and slid off the chair as her body seemed to lose control.

The girl's family has claimed that her condition worsened at that point and that she suffered three successive heart attacks, becoming critical after the third. Doctors declared her dead on arrival.

School administrator Ashish Upadhyay confirmed the incident and said the entire sequence was captured on the school's CCTV cameras. He alleged that the DJ was playing at an extremely high volume during the procession, which he said led to the tragedy.

Class teacher Iqra Khan said she was teaching when the DJ arrived and the volume became extremely loud, causing the classroom to vibrate. She said the student suffered her first attack then, and that other teachers rushed to help and the girl was taken to hospital, where her parents also arrived.

School coordinator Pummy Mishra said the teacher called them, and when they went upstairs they found the child lying unconscious. They picked her up, removed her shoes and rubbed her hands and feet, but she did not regain consciousness. She was carried downstairs and taken to the hospital emergency ward.

Police said the matter is under investigation. They said it will become clear only after the investigation report whether the student died due to the sound of the DJ or for some other medical reason. Superintendent of Police Martand Prakash Singh said appropriate legal action will be taken after an impartial investigation.

The incident has raised questions about safety measures and the enforcement of noise pollution norms during processions.
