Seven injured, including toddler, in Baltimore street shooting
Seven people, including a three-year-old boy, were shot Wednesday night in Baltimore's Washington Hill neighbourhood; police are still searching for suspects.
Seven people, among them a three-year-old boy, were shot late Wednesday night in East Baltimore, police said, in an incident that drew a heavy response to a residential block just steps from Johns Hopkins Hospital.
The Baltimore Police Department said officers from its Southern District were called to the 1400 block of East Fayette Street shortly after 9 pm following reports of gunfire. On arrival, they found multiple victims.
Police Commissioner Richard Worley said all seven victims had sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. A department spokesperson, Vernon Davis, confirmed the timing and location of the response in an email.
The shooting occurred in the city's Washington Hill neighbourhood. Authorities closed off the intersection of Fayette and Caroline Streets while investigators worked at the scene.
No suspect had been taken into custody as of Thursday, and police said they were still searching for the person or people responsible. The department said further details would be released as they became available.
