Bandi Sanjay accuses Congress of putting family before nation after Revanth Reddy remarks
Bandi Sanjay Kumar hit back at Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, saying the Congress puts the Gandhi family above the nation, while BJP state chief N. Ramchander Rao called the CM's remarks laughable.
Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar has criticised Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his recent comments on the ideological contest between the Gandhi family and the Sangh Parivar, saying the Congress places one family above the country.
In a post on social media, Mr. Sanjay drew a contrast between the two camps. "For us, it is Nation First. For Congress, it is always Family First," he said, alleging that the Chief Minister was urging people to fight and sacrifice solely for the Gandhi family.
Invoking the Sangh prayer, the Minister said a swayamsevak is taught from the outset to dedicate himself to the motherland. He quoted the Sanskrit lines "Mahamangale punyabhume tvadarthe, Patatvesha kayo namaste namaste," describing them as a pledge to offer one's body in the service of the country.
Mr. Sanjay said the Sangh Parivar's commitment was to "Bharat Mata, the nation, unity and security," and asserted that no political family could be greater than the country and that no surname could demand the nation's sacrifice.
His remarks followed Mr. Revanth Reddy's comments at a programme in Keralam, where the Chief Minister spoke about the ideological contest between the Gandhi Parivar and the Sangh Parivar.
Separately, BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao dismissed the Chief Minister's comments as "laughable." Mr. Rao, who is touring Australia, said the statement made clear to the public the difference between what he described as the family-centric, selfish politics of the Congress and the selfless patriotism of the Sangh Parivar.
"For the Congress Party, politics begins with a single family. But for us, national interest is always paramount far above any single individual or family," Mr. Rao said. He added that the Sangh Parivar does not run on any surname or a single family's legacy, but is an organisation built on the sacrifices of generations of workers who devoted their lives to social service, nation-building and discipline.
