
Bandra: Boy Killed as Speeding Innova Hits Him; Driver Was on Phone
A seven-year-old boy was killed in Bandra after a speeding Innova Crysta, driven by a woman allegedly engrossed in her phone, hit him.
A seven-year-old boy was killed in Bandra on Wednesday after being struck by a speeding SUV, with eyewitnesses claiming the driver was distracted by her phone at the time of the accident.
The victim, identified as Ansh Ravindra Gupta, was crossing John Baptist Road, opposite Jijamata Garden, when the Toyota Innova Crysta hit him. The vehicle was allegedly being driven at excessive speed by a 45-year-old woman.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the driver appeared completely engrossed in her mobile phone and failed to notice the child crossing the road. The impact was severe, and the boy succumbed to his injuries at the spot.
Local residents and passersby rushed to the scene after hearing the collision, but the child could not be saved. The driver has been identified, and police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
The tragedy has once again highlighted the dangers of distracted driving and speeding in residential and garden-adjacent areas of the city, where pedestrian movement, especially of children, is common.
