Bank of America Executive Killed in Times Square Stabbing Mourned by Family
Family of Erin Piacenti, killed in a Times Square stabbing on her first day back from maternity leave, remembers her as a devoted mother and accomplished professional.
The family of Erin Piacenti, a Bank of America vice president who was fatally stabbed in New York City's Times Square on Monday, has released an emotional statement remembering the 32-year-old mother as someone whose life was defined by her warmth and devotion, not the tragedy of her death.
Piacenti, who had returned to work that day after maternity leave, was attacked in what police described as an unprovoked assault. She leaves behind her husband, Frank, and their five-month-old daughter, Madison.
In a statement issued Wednesday, her relatives said they were "devastated" by the loss. "Erin's life was defined not by the circumstances of her death, but instead by the way she lived," they said. They described her as "deeply devoted to her family and friends, exceptionally bright and accomplished, and someone who brought warmth and energy to the people around her."
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Fordham University School of Law, Piacenti had worked as a buyer at Bloomingdale's before joining Bank of America 18 months ago as a vice president in its business-selection-and-conflicts team. She met her husband at Fordham Law, and the couple married in August 2024.
The family noted that Piacenti and her husband had recently returned from a road trip through Maine and Rhode Island and were "preparing to build a life together with their new daughter." A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the infant, with a goal of $500,000.
The suspect, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, a mother of three with a history of mental illness, was shot and killed by police after she allegedly lunged at officers while holding knives. A 68-year-old man from Rhode Island, Tak Kam, was also seriously injured in the attack.
