Bar body urges CJI, PMO to step up efforts to trace retired judge missing in Nepal floods

A bar association has formally reached out to the country's highest constitutional authorities, urging them to intensify efforts to locate a retired Madras High Court judge who went missing during the recent floods in Nepal.

The association has written to the Chief Justice of India, the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of External Affairs, seeking a coordinated push to trace the former judge. The letters stress the need for sustained and urgent action on the matter.

In its communication, the association has also underlined the importance of keeping the judge's family informed of any developments. It has requested that the authorities maintain regular contact with the family as the search and rescue operations continue.

The development comes as rescue teams in Nepal grapple with the aftermath of severe flooding that has disrupted normal life in several regions. The whereabouts of the retired judge remain unknown, prompting the association to seek intervention at the highest levels of government and the judiciary.
