Barcelona AI Summit 2026 Puts Practical AI on Display

The 2026 Barcelona AI Summit opened on Tuesday in Spain, with organisers and exhibitors steering attention toward the practical deployment of artificial intelligence rather than abstract ambitions. The two-day gathering combines keynote forums and speeches with several exhibition halls where visitors can watch demonstrations and try interactive experiences first-hand.

One of the more unusual exhibits lets aspiring boxers assess their technique with the help of AI-powered coaching. Cameras track movement trajectories, analysing punch speed, body rotation and defensive actions to flag weaknesses in a fighter's training. Amelys Servais, an exhibitor at the event, said the aim was to gain visibility and show the technology working under real conditions, so that users of any level can test it, receive a score and see how they might improve their technique.

Elsewhere, developers presented a robot dog equipped with cameras and sensors that allow it to perceive its surroundings, interpret human movement and respond to spoken language. Kacper Poniatowski, an engineer working on the device, said the team built a language model on top of the robot and added text-to-speech, enabling it to respond when spoken to through a microphone. The machine also features an auto-explore function that uses lidar sensors to walk around on its own and map its surroundings.

The summit additionally highlighted AI applications in areas such as enterprise services and immersive experiences, reflecting a broader shift toward emerging real-world products.
