Barefoot Marathon Win Brings Lifelong Education Support for Beed Mother's Daughters
A mother's barefoot marathon win in Beed, Maharashtra, has secured lifelong education sponsorship for her two daughters from Hyderabad-based foundations.
A 47-year-old mother from Beed, Maharashtra, has become an internet sensation after a video of her winning a local marathon barefoot while wearing a saree went viral. Ramabai Ranveer, who works as a cook and is the sole breadwinner for her family, ran the Amrut Daud Marathon on August 29 carrying her sandals in her hand, choosing speed over comfort in her quest for the prize money.
Her determination, captured on video, has resonated far beyond the racecourse. The Hyderabad-based Sudha Reddy Foundation and MEIL Foundation have now stepped forward to support her family. They have announced they will sponsor the education of her two daughters for life. One daughter is currently pursuing a B.Sc. degree, while the other is preparing for police recruitment examinations.
Sudha Reddy, founder of the Sudha Reddy Foundation and director of MEIL, praised Ranveer's resilience and commitment to her family's future. In addition to the long-term educational sponsorship, the foundations will provide ₹75,000 in immediate financial assistance to help with current expenses.
Ranveer's journey is set to continue as she has been invited to participate in the Pink Power Run 3.0, scheduled for September 27 at People's Plaza, Necklace Road, in Hyderabad.
