Chandigarh Court Issues Notice to Salman Khan, Being Human Foundation in Franchise Dispute
Court issues notice to Salman Khan, Alvira Khan, and Being Human Foundation over a franchise dispute involving alleged losses of over Rs 2 crore.
A Chandigarh court has issued formal notices to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the Being Human Foundation in connection with an alleged franchise dispute. The notice was issued by the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Dr. Ambika Sharma on August 24.
The case stems from a complaint filed by Arun Gupta, a businessman based in Manimajra. According to advocate Rajwinder Raj, representing Gupta, the franchise for the first Being Human jewellery showroom in Chandigarh was awarded to his client. Raj claims that despite an investment exceeding Rs 2 crore, his client received no support from the actor or the trust, resulting in significant financial losses.
Raj further stated that Salman Khan had invited his client to the Bigg Boss house during the brand's launch and had promised to personally visit Chandigarh for the showroom's publicity. However, the advocate alleges that this visit never materialized, and neither the actor nor the trust followed up on the matter. The franchise rights were subsequently assigned to Style Quotient Jewellery Pvt. Ltd., but Raj claims there was no response from that side either.
The notices were issued at the pre-cognisance stage under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the case of Arun Gupta Vs Style Quotient Jewellery Pvt. Ltd. The court has directed the parties to appear in person or through their legal representatives. The next hearing is scheduled for October 5, 2026.
