Bengaluru Police Clarify Businessman Was Detained by Andhra Pradesh Police, Not Abducted
Bengaluru Police clarified that a businessman was not abducted but detained by Andhra Pradesh police in a case at Mydukur station.
The Bengaluru City Police on Monday clarified that a 65-year-old businessman, Raviprakash, was not abducted as alleged by his wife, but was taken into custody by the Andhra Pradesh police in connection with a case registered at the Mydukur Police Station.
The clarification came after an FIR was filed against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Putta Sudhakar and unidentified persons based on a complaint by Raviprakash's wife, Sabina. She alleged that on August 30, around 10:15 a.m., four vehicles without number plates blocked their car in the R.R. Nagar area. She claimed that 10-15 men pulled her husband out, assaulted him, and forced him into another vehicle.
Sabina further alleged that when she tried to intervene, she was kicked in the stomach and slapped, and the assailants threatened her and her family. She also stated that the incident was captured on CCTV cameras at their residence. Later, one of the vehicles returned, and its occupants warned them against approaching the police. A person found in that vehicle was detained and taken to the Rajarajeshwari Nagar police station.
The FIR names Putta Sudhakar and unidentified persons as accused. The family said Raviprakash and Sudhakar had a long-standing legal dispute over a 14-acre property in R.R. Nagar.
However, senior police officials said their inquiry established that Raviprakash had been taken by the Andhra Pradesh police. He is the fifth accused in a case registered at Mydukur Police Station. Further details regarding the case and his detention are awaited.
