Bengaluru Hockey Club Kitchen Found With Expired Drinks, Pest Infestation

A food safety inspection at Vivekanagar Hockey Club in Bengaluru found expired drinks, pest infestation, and unhygienic kitchen conditions.

A food safety inspection at the Vivekanagar Hockey Club in Bengaluru has uncovered serious hygiene lapses, including the presence of expired beverages and pest infestation in the club's kitchen.

The raid, carried out by the Food Safety Division of the Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration, was ordered by Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader. Acting under the Food Safety and Standards Act, officials examined the kitchen and found it being maintained in an unhygienic manner.

During the inspection, as many as 40 bottles of expired soft drinks were seized. Several soda bottles were also found with improper labelling, which violates labelling regulations.

The inspection further revealed unsanitary food preparation and storage areas, inadequate food safety practices, and signs of pest infestation in the kitchen.

A notice has been issued to the food business operator responsible for the club. Officials said further legal action will be initiated under applicable food safety regulations.
