Bengaluru to Host Three-Day Festival on Karnataka's Indigenous Languages

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Bengaluru, will organise a three-day literary festival dedicated to Karnataka's indigenous languages, beginning October 2, 2026, in the city. The event, titled 'Karnataka Nudi Thota', is part of the organisation's diamond jubilee celebrations.

The festival will examine the past, present and future of a wide range of languages spoken across the State, including Kodava, Tulu, Konkani, Beary, Arebhashe, Havyaka, Sanketi, Lambani, Soliga, Halakki, Kunabi, Siddhi, Betta, Kuruba, Jenu Kuruba, Panjariya and Iruliga.

More than 30 eminent scholars are expected to take part in the discussions. BVB has described the festival as the first of its kind in Karnataka.

U.T. Khader, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, will inaugurate the event. M. Veerappa Moily, a former Chief Minister and a Saraswati Samman awardee, will attend as chief guest.
