Bengaluru Man Arrested for Strangling Wife, Pouring Hot Oil on Body

A Bihar-origin man was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly strangling his wife and pouring hot oil on her body after a quarrel at their Bilekahalli residence.

A man has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly strangling his wife to death and then pouring hot oil on her body at their home in the Bilekahalli area, police said on Friday.

The accused, Ranjith Kumar Gupta, and the victim, Gunja Madeshia, originally from Bihar, lived in Bengaluru with their two children. According to police, the couple quarrelled frequently.

The incident took place on Thursday when their children were playing outside the house. During an argument, Gupta allegedly strangled his wife. He then poured hot oil on her body and is said to have attempted to peel her skin, leaving the body in a severely damaged condition when it was recovered.

Gupta fled the house after the incident, and police, suspecting his role after he left the scene, traced and detained him. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to the crime, police said.

Police also stated that Gupta attempted to take his own life after the incident, though details of how he tried to do so were not immediately available.

Investigators are still working to establish the motive and the circumstances that led to the quarrel. They are also questioning the accused to piece together the sequence of events after the killing and to determine why hot oil was poured on the body.

The case, registered at the Mico Layout police station, has shocked residents of the area. Further investigation is under way.
