Bengaluru 'Peptide Party' Called Off After Food Regulator Steps In

A much-debated 'peptide party' scheduled to take place in Bengaluru's Koramangala neighbourhood on August 29 has been cancelled. The Food Safety and Drugs Administration (FDA) confirmed the cancellation after launching an enquiry into the proposed gathering.
The event had sparked a significant online discussion about the nature of such parties and the promotion of peptides — short chains of amino acids that act as signalling molecules in the body. These invite-only social events, often associated with biohacking and wellness culture, typically draw fitness enthusiasts and those interested in performance enhancement, anti-ageing, and weight loss.
According to the FDA, officials sought details about the event and even attempted to register for it, but did not receive an invitation. The department then contacted the organisers, M/s Upsurge Labs LLP, requesting information and documents related to the programme.
In a public advisory, the Commissioner of the Food Safety and Drugs Administration confirmed the event's cancellation. The organisers have been granted time to submit the requested documents, and the department has stated that a suitable deadline has been provided.
The development comes amid growing public interest and concern over the safety and regulation of peptides, particularly those promoted online for uses outside approved medical settings.
