Tempo Traveller Overturns in Bengaluru, One Dead and Five Injured

A young man died and five others, including the driver, were seriously injured when a Tempo Traveller crashed into an electric pole and overturned in Bengaluru late on Saturday night. The accident occurred near Mahadeshwara Temple on the Ring Road in Annapoorneshwari Nagar.

The vehicle was carrying seven youths from Laggere towards Nayandahalli, with Ravi at the wheel. According to preliminary information, passersby said the driver swerved to avoid a group of youths who were reportedly riding motorcycles on the road. He lost control of the vehicle, which hit the roadside electric pole and overturned.

Manoj, a passenger, sustained severe injuries and died at the spot. Ravi and four others were seriously hurt and were shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

The traffic police, however, said no wheelies were being performed at the time of the accident. They have registered a case against the driver for rash and negligent driving causing death by negligence.

Local residents alleged that an ambulance took nearly an hour to reach the site and arrived with only a driver, without medical staff. This led to a protest and commotion at the scene. Residents also voiced anger over what they described as a rise in late-night wheeling incidents in the area and questioned the lack of police action against such offenders.
